About AYA

What is AYA Motherland?

AYA Motherland is a ceramics and homeware brand rooted in Thai craft traditions. We design in New York and work with skilled artisans in Thailand to produce each piece by hand, using locally sourced stoneware clay and natural glazes.

Where are AYA pieces made?

Every AYA piece is handcrafted in Chiang Mai, Thailand by a small team of ceramic artisans. We work closely with each maker to ensure quality and preserve traditional techniques.

Why do pieces look slightly different from the photos?

Because every AYA piece is made by hand, no two are exactly alike. Slight variations in glaze pooling, surface texture, and tone are natural and intentional — they are what make each piece genuinely one of a kind.

Materials & Care

What materials do you use?

We use locally sourced stoneware clay from Northern Thailand, fired at high temperatures for durability. Our glazes are food-safe, lead-free, and made from natural mineral compounds. Some collections feature unglazed raw clay exteriors for a natural matte finish.

Are AYA ceramics food and drink safe?

Yes. All glazed surfaces that come into contact with food or drink are food-safe and free of lead and cadmium. Unglazed exterior surfaces are decorative and not intended for food contact.

Can I put AYA ceramics in the dishwasher?

Hand washing with mild soap is recommended to preserve the glaze finish and extend the life of each piece. While most stoneware can tolerate occasional dishwasher use on a gentle cycle, repeated machine washing may dull the surface over time.

Are AYA pieces microwave safe?

Yes — stoneware is microwave safe. Avoid placing pieces with metallic glaze accents in the microwave.

How should I care for my AYA ceramics long-term?

Handle with care and avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g. placing a cold piece directly on a hot stove). For unglazed or matte-finish pieces, occasional light oiling with food-grade mineral oil will help maintain the natural look of the clay.

Ordering

What currencies do you accept?

We accept payment in Thai Baht (THB) and US Dollars (USD). You can switch your preferred currency using the selector in the top navigation.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, and select local payment methods depending on your region. All transactions are processed securely.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

We begin processing orders quickly, but if you need to make a change or cancellation please contact us at hello@ayamotherland.com within 24 hours of placing your order. We cannot guarantee changes after this window, but we will do our best.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does shipping take?

Orders are processed within 2–3 business days. Estimated delivery times after dispatch:

  • Thailand: 3–5 business days
  • United States: 10–18 business days
  • Rest of World: 14–21 business days

Expedited options are available at checkout where applicable.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location and order weight. We offer complimentary shipping on orders over ฿3,000 within Thailand, and on orders over $150 USD internationally.

Will I receive a tracking number?

Yes. Once your order is dispatched you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking link. Please allow up to 24 hours for the tracking to become active.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to most countries worldwide. Import duties, taxes, and customs fees are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in our shipping charges. Please check your local customs regulations before ordering.

Returns & Refunds

What is your return policy?

We accept returns on unused items in original condition within 14 days of delivery. To initiate a return, email hello@ayamotherland.com with your order number and reason for return. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item arrived damaged.

My order arrived damaged. What do I do?

We are sorry to hear this. Please email hello@ayamotherland.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement or full refund at no additional cost to you.

How long do refunds take?

Once we receive and inspect your return, refunds are processed within 5–7 business days back to your original payment method. You will receive an email confirmation when the refund is issued.

Custom & Wholesale

Do you offer custom or bespoke pieces?

Yes. We work with interior designers, restaurants, and private clients on custom commissions — including custom glazes, forms, and branding. Please reach out to hello@ayamotherland.com with your project details and we will be in touch.

Do you have a wholesale programme?

We do offer wholesale pricing for qualified retail partners and hospitality clients. Contact us at hello@ayamotherland.com with your business details and we will send you our wholesale catalogue and terms.
